Is sharing needles okay? Of course not! But what about Sharon Needles? Don’t get me lying. Now what had happened was…it was AFTER I went inside the Jungle to see the RuPaul’s Drag Races current winner that I heard the news that Sharon signed a Black fan’s photo of her using the “N” word (insert short HORROR music). Hell, I knew SOMETHING was wrong with all those protestors outside. I was shocked. I mean, during her show, she carefully referred to Black folks as “African Americans” (well HELLO…this IS Atlanta). But I wasn’t worried about no Sharon Needles child, I was wowed out and impressed at how fiercely the ATLANTA girls turned that show OUT!!!
Sharon was only a guest, this was more about the monthly FANTASY GIRLS show that Phoenix puts on. First they had a hot Rocky Horror themed opening….okay, because you know Ms. Needles like spooky stuff. Next, Ms. Savannah Leigh came out as CHER. I’ve seen some pretty good Cher impressions in this town, but right before our eyes, Ms. Leigh ‘turned back time’ for real right quick with her Cher realness. She moved, act, dressed, and looked (and probably smelled) JUST like the famous tongue singing superstar. The crowd went up. It was a great crowd actually, owner Richard told me the number of people that showed up was “somewhere around 700”…okay for the 700 Club.
Yeah it felt like everybody and their mama’dem were there. Phoenix, also show director, bedazzled us with her Katy Perry ‘get up’ as if she was her Doppelganger. The loud mouth on the microphone all night was birthday girl Nicole Paige Brooks who gets points for doing a great hosting job all damn night wearing that satin black cloak carrying that dangerous Grim Reaper’s cane. Alissah Brooks and Star Sanchez Sherrington were also on their A game for the very mix crowd (mixed with straight girls, older and younger menses, black and white).
But the entertainer who really stood out for me was multiple pageant winner Envy Van Michaels. Shecame bursting out doing a Rihanna song as if her LIFE was depending on it! She came out like she was trying to get REVENGE on someone. She came out like a freed caged animal let loose in the jungle…in other words, she let ALL the kids have it! Next month, they’re bringing none other than Ms. LATRICE ROYALE! I can’t WAIT for that one! I don’t know…it’s something about Latrice, she has that respectable mixed aura like one minute she seem sweet as pie and so fun to hang out with, but on the other hand,..um…let me just say, I dare you to call HER the “N” word.
