Ladies Take Over MLK Weekend

This past MLK weekend, the spirit of open-mindedness and community drove hundreds of Atlanta lesbians to the streets to party it up and celebrate together during the extended holiday weekend.

Friday night, Encore hosted the ladies of Traxx Girls for their Grand Opening Party Femmistry Fridays. Right around midnight, the ladies began to pour in and DJ Small Wonder was ready for them! He rocked the building, spinning House, R&B, Hip Hop and even Rock…and the ladies loved it! This party has a youthful energy to it. So be prepared to wear heels that you will only wear in your early to mid twenties while simultaneously sweating out your hair. It’s totally worth it. Femmistry Fridays will run weekly so if you missed it, there will be many more opportunities to get in on the fun. Check out www.traxxgirls.com for more info on future parties and locations.

Saturday night, the newest lesbian promotions company of its kind, since the days of QueerGrrls, LovHer hosted its monthly party at Rise. The environment here can generally be summed up as young and cosmopolitan. In this crowd you’ll find younger city dwelling lesbians with college degrees and high libidos. Decent music, cute venue and crowded with very attractive girls but not enough bartenders to keep the party going.

And of course Sunday, with Ladies at Play. I’m not the biggest fan of that scene so I didn’t go.

How would I describe it? Geriatrics is one way of putting it but then again, I’m just being mean, it’s actually not that bad. I can probably guess it was packed, with women, who have 401K’s and mortgages, which is so not my scene. But if you’re looking for older women, nice venues and sophistication, you will certainly enjoy a LAP party because they have venue selections down pat.
